Availability List For Friday October 13

Posted 10/10/2017 1:37pm by Natalie Kujala.

I (Taylor) am getting to write the cover letter so much these days, which makes me so excited! Hopefully, this gives you a little more information about myself, so that I am not just a voice on the other end of the phone. This past weekend, my family and I celebrated my mom’s and step-sister’s birthday. October is a birthday filled month for my family. My dad’s birthday was last week and one of my cousin’s birthday is this weekend. Also, my birthday is coming up at the beginning of November (a little reminder for all of you!). I really just want you to keep asking me about my birthday!

HIGHLIGHTS:

THELMA SANDERS SQUASH: This is a wonderful, cream colored, heirloom acorn-type winter squash. A member of the Seed Savers Exchange received these seeds from a Thelma Sanders, in Adair County Missouri, in the early 1980s. He then shared them in the SSE group, where this variety of winter squash became very popular. They are supposedly better than a sweet potato!

RADISHES: The weather is still treating the radishes very well. We have bunched red and French breakfast radishes (so they have their tops). I think the tops have a similar flavor to arugula, so they have a nice kick.

CONCORD GRAPES: These big blue marbles are making our dock smell like grape juice! It is quite a refreshing smell. We would love to share this wonderful smell with you, so please order up! These beautiful globes will sadly not last forever, but we would like to share with you, while we have them!

GREENS SHOUT-OUT: Baby greens are continuing their happy streak! Arugula and sweet & spicy are experiencing especially prolific growth spurts. We can pack the baby greens in larger pack sizes (8-lb or 10-lb cases), so please let us know early if you would like this! The time of year, the head lettuce and bunched greens are prolifically producing as well. If you would like a picture of any of these, please let us know.

HOT PEPPER REMINDER: We will continue to offer you the following peppers in 1-pound pack sizes: Anaheim, Orange Habanero, Caribbean Red Habanero, Mixed Hot, Extreme Hot, Green Chili and Serrano, as long as supplies last. We can offer these for $8 per 1-pound case. Again, please let us know early, if you are interested!

NON-ORGANIC, ALL NATURAL LOCAL CHICKEN EGGS: AVAILABLE IN MEDIUM, LARGE AND EXTRA-LARGE, 15 DOZEN BULK. PLEASE CALL TIM DERSTINE AT HARES VALLEY GROWERS AT 814 448 2784 FOR GREAT EGG PRICES.
