Availability List For Friday June 2nd

Posted 5/30/2017 11:47am by Natalie Kujala.

At the beginning of June, two of my (Taylor writing!) siblings have birthdays! With the produce ramping up, I sadly do not think I will be able to go over to my mom’s house for their respective parties. Even so, I hope to go back to her house relatively soon, so that we can all celebrate together. When I go back to my mom’s house this time of year, I enjoy being able to bring so many varieties of fresh produce back to my family. They have plenty of options around them as well, but I like bringing produce from the growers that I work for at the co-op!

NOTICE: Tuscarora is looking to redesign our website and refresh our logo. We have put out an RFP on the front page of our website. Please check it out if you know anyone who may be interested and please let us know!

HIGHLIGHTS:

BABY GREENS: The baby greens love this cooler spring weather. They baby greens are really exploding for many of our growers. Baby mustards, mizunas, arugula, sweet & spicy, red Russian kale, and Asian greens will be especially abundant. If you are looking for 5# packs of anything other than sweet & spicy, please let us know by Wednesday! Five-pound packs of most baby greens will not go out on the list, but we can bring them in for you.

HEAD LETTUCE: Could you use any head lettuce for your sandwiches, salads, or produce displays? We have a few options of red and green leaf lettuces in both 12 count and 24 count cases. If you have questions about these lettuces, please email or call our office. If you would like to see a picture of these, please ask! We will get those to you as soon as the lettuce gets to our coolers.

STRAWBERRIES: The bonanza has begun. Please do not be shy in asking for a large number this week. We would love to share our strawberries with you. We would also love to see how you are using these in your kitchen, so please tag us on Instagram!

GARLIC SCAPES: The garlic, which our growers have planted for their winter head garlic sales, has begun to produce flowers. When I cook, which honestly is not very often, I tend to use too much garlic, which makes my boyfriend complain. Luckily, the garlic scapes and green garlic have a milder flavor, so my family does not notice when I go overboard!

NON-ORGANIC, ALL NATURAL LOCAL CHICKEN EGGS: AVAILABLE IN MEDIUM, LARGE AND EXTRA-LARGE, 15 DOZEN BULK.   PLEASE CALL TIM DERSTINE AT HARES VALLEY GROWERS AT 814 448 2784 FOR GREAT EGG PRICES.
