For Delivery Tuesday, March 7

Posted 3/3/2017 10:53am by Teresa Showalter.

Teresa and I (Taylor) will be holding down the fort again today. Natalie and Emily are going to a board meeting for our cooperative, very exciting! Our board and management are focusing on the future of our cooperative. We are definitely looking forward to what the future holds for us. On another note, next week Emily will be bringing her new, little baby boy into the office for the first time! We are very excited to meet him. We are dreaming of setting up a little space for the baby in the office, but it is only a dream! Emily will not be able to bring him in every day, when she gets back, so we will have to continue to coddle our produce!

IMPORTANT: We experienced a wind storm early this past Thursday morning. The wind storm took out our power, which reset our phone systems. We were able to reset our phone system, for the most part, on Thursday. Even so, WE DO NOT HAVE VOICEMAIL. We should be able to set this up on Monday or Tuesday. Before then, if you would like to reach us, please call during regular busines hours or email our wonderful staff.                                                                                                                                                                                                       HIGHLIGHTS:

GARLIC: We want to make sure you are aware of our garlic levels. We do have white, red, and purple striped available, but we will not have it for long. We would love to share it with you. This allium is a wonderful addition to a wide variety of dishes. This would also be perfect for roasted whole cloves!

PARSNIPS: We ask that you please not forget about these beauties! They may not be as colorful as their carrot cousins, but they are sweeter and nuttier (but maybe not crazier). We are still offering parsnips in both 25# case and 10# cases to offer different price points. These could go nicely in a roast with the black Spanish radishes.

GREENS: Our growers are now offering a good variety of greens and salad mixes. Have you considered making new salad mixes? If so, we have a wide variety of baby and young greens to use for this. Please consider the little guys, such as claytonia and baby dandelion greens. We will also have some of the young chards and kales this week!

BLACK SPANISH RADISHES: This type of radish deserves it’s time in the sun again. Do not let this radish deter you by its looks. It may not be the prettiest, but it is definitely a versatile radish. They are excellent as either radish chips or an addition to a roast of vegetables. I will suggest to Natalie and Emily that we have a recipe contest. We could have a contest to see who can use these in the most unique way.
