For Tuesday April 4th
It’s starting to feel a bit more consistently like spring with warmer weather, rainy days, blooming flowers, and new crops on the horizon. My daffadils have bloomed, adding a nice burst of color to my front garden. I’m anxious to see what pops up next. Last spring, my dad, uncle, and grandfather went on a flower and tree planting spree. I came home one day to wheelbarrows, shovels, mulch, seedlings, and bulbs spread all over my yard. I did remember mentioning that I could use a tree or two. It seems they multiplied that sentiment by 10 and away they went. Gotta love family!
Note: Pea shoots will still be limited for Tuesday. Our grower had a run of bad luck with two poor plantings in a row! Go figure! BUT, he’s motivated to get his crop back on track, and will hopefully be offering his regular volume soon enough.
#2 GARLIC: This aromatic allium is back in the limelight! I’ve still been regularly enjoying garlic hummus, picked garlic, and minced garlic is just about every sautéed dish I make. I can’t seem to get enough of it. It was a great garlic year and our growers still have a lot available. I’d really love to move as much as we can for them, so if you’re looking for a volume, or even just a couple of cases, we can work with pricing to suit your needs!
SWEET POTATOES: Though we are dangerously close to the end of our regular orange sweet potato supply, we still have deep purple and Japanese sweet potatoes in abundance! Sub one of these specialty sweet potatoes in for the orange, and add a little twist to your traditional sweet potato dishes.
JUICE CARROTS: Using carrots to cook, slice, pickle, or otherwise process? Maybe you just prefer your roots a bit free-spirited, or enjoy seeing them in unconventional forms. If so, juice carrots might just be your perfect vegetable match.
SWEET & SPICY: So it seems we will have no lull in our supply of this favorite greens mix this week after all! Even though sweet & spicy will be available, don’t forget about all of those other delicious greens we offer such as mesclun, spinach, arugula, and more!
NON-ORGANIC, ALL NATURAL LOCAL CHICKEN EGGS: AVAILABLE IN MEDIUM, LARGE AND EXTRA-LARGE, 15 DOZEN BULK. PLEASE CALL TIM DERSTINE AT HARES VALLEY GROWERS AT 814 448 2784 FOR GREAT EGG PRICES.
