For Tuesday Jan 17

Posted 1/13/2017 10:29am by Emily Best.

In light of next week’s inauguration, we are trying to determine what to do for our DC customers – deliver or not? If you regularly order on Fridays, and are planning to be closed this Friday, please us know. It will help us plan out our week! At this point, we will probably still make our usual Friday deliveries, although the schedule might be a bit different. Please, DC customers, be in touch! This should not affect VA/MD deliveries whatsoever, for those of you located outside DC.

Our annual meeting was a success. We reviewed the past year – the ups and downs, how we can improve, how we’ve changed. One big change this year is that Jim Crawford, owner of New Morning Farm and founder of Tuscarora, is stepping down as president as he moves toward retirement. We wouldn’t be here without Jim and we are all so thankful for his vision and leadership over the years!

HIGHLIGHTS:

COLLARDS: Our friends at Eastern Carolina let us know that their growers are harvesting a lot of collards for this week and so can offer them at a discounted price. We dropped our price accordingly! We also have a lot of these available so can do a special 5+ case discount. Please let us know if you’re interested! We don’t have many other greens available so collards it is!

BABY LEEKS: Farmer Jarrah Cernas at Chicano Sol harvested her baby leeks from the high tunnel this week and they are gorgeous! And what a great item to have available this time of year. Not many cases available – when they’re gone, they’re gone, so get them now.

GOLD POTATOES: The gold potatoes available now are PA grown! We managed to scrounge some up from an affiliated grower.
